Treestand Manufacturer's
Association Announces
Grant Program for Treestand
Safety Training Baton Rouge, LA - May
18, 2007 - During the IHEA
Annual Conference held last week, TMA Executive
Director; John Louk introduced the TREESTAND
SAFETY GRANT PROGRAM (TSGP) to show their support
and encourage each state to take a leading role in
efforts to promote treestand safety. Grant
Funding has been made possible through TMA Members
participating in the Video Instruction Project which was
approved in December of 2006. The
following five sections briefly explain how
the Grant Program is to be implemented. Follow the
links in each section for more information.
Interested Applicants can begin
the process now by completing the required forms and
submitting to the TMA Office for approval.

The Treestand
Manufacturer's Association is a non-profit
corporation qualified as a 501(c)(6). Since 1995
the association specifically devotes its resources to promote
treestand safety through product testing and
education.

Grant Program
Overview
Eligible Applicants include: State Hunter
Education and Bowhunter Education Programs seeking to train
lead educators as Master Trainers in treestand safety using
the Treestand Safety Certification Course (TSCC).
Applicants are required to complete the Grant
Application (ATTACHMENT A) and submit it to the TMA Office for
approval.

Grant Application
The Grant Application consists of a two (2)
page form and includes basic information to be considered
during the approval process. Sections covered in
the application include:
- Applicant Information
- Grant Request
- Background Information

- Program Outcomes Measurement

Eligible Costs Grand Award Funds will be provided for such costs as:
the purchase of training Equipment, Registration Fees,
Personnel (In-Kind), Supplies, Travel, Food or other materials
necessary to be used during the Treestand Safety
Certification Courses (TSCC).

Equipment Purchase
Program
Applicants agree to purchase necessary
training equipment through the Equipment Purchase
Program. All treestands, climbing aids and Fall Arrest
Systems (Full Body Harnesses) to be used during Treestand
Safety Certification Courses must be certified to current TMA
Standards. The Equipment Purchase Program Form includes
a list of suggested equipment and also TMA members who
have agreed to support the program. If the Applicant
wishes to purchase any equipment not listed, they should
contact the TMA Office for proper
authorization.

Training Report
Successful Grant Recipients agree to submit
a Training report to the TMA Office with twelve (12) months
from the date the Grant Award is approved. The
Report will include documentation of the Treestand Safety
Certification Course (TSCC) administered by the National
Bowhunter Education Foundation (NBEF) for Master Trainers and
Instructors and also status of all Grant
contingencies.
